Welcome to Serenity To help you get up to speed, there are a few things you should do.
- Create a forum account
- Log in and read the Raid Rules
- If you are level 70 and plan on raiding, you must sign and agree to the raid rules. There is a thread for that in the forums.
- Familiarize yourself with the forum threads. Just scan through them.
- Download Group Calendar. It will keep you updated on what is happening and when. It's linked on our front page.
- If you plan to raid, you must download and install a threat meter, either Omen or KTM. You can find either of those at: http://wow.curse.com
- If raiding, you must also install either BigWigs or Deadly Boss Mobs. Again, can be downloaded from Curse.
- If you're interested in guild instance runs, you must download and install Ventrilo. You are not required to speak/have a mic, but you must be able to monitor (i.e. hear) the party leader's instructions. Download it here. There is both a PC and Mac version. Read the instructions on setup here.
Here are a few things you should know and remember:
- Serenity is a guild focused on good and positive people. We are focused on having fun with people we enjoy playing with. The first question when anyone wants to join guild is, "Is he/she a good person?" More than anything, that is our priority.
- The second priority is maturity.
- If all you're after is loot, we're not the guild for you.
- Many of our guild members have children who play the game or who either monitor or can hear Ventrilo. Keep your discussions RATED-PG, please. Find more creative ways of expression than the usual boring swear words.
- We work as a group. Which also means moving aside for the betterment of a raid or other instance run for other folks if asked.
- No one is guaranteed a spot in any group or raid. If you've joined guild to be able to run raids, expect to wait a fairly long time to be consistently invited.
- Signing up for a raid or instance is not a guarantee of a spot. All invites are at the discretion of the raid leader. Insisting on being invited while being undergeared and inexperienced for the particular raid is unfair to the other 9 or 24 who have to compensate and wipe over and over and over. If you sign up for a raid, please make sure you're geared for it. Gear progression is about the same as raid progression: Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, Magtheridon, Zul Aman, Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep: The Eye, Battle of Mt. Hyjal, Black Temple, Sunwell Plateau.
- If you want to raid, please do your homework. Bosskillers.com is a good resource for boss strategies. Also, make sure you know (maybe keep a list) of possible upgrades. You don't want to waste your dkp on a downgrade.
- If you have questions, a guild mentor should have been assigned to you. If there was not, please whisper one of the guild officers to ask for one. Guild mentors are available to answer any questions about rules, playing the game, or Serenity culture and expectations. The guild officers are: Lorven, Capso, Derava, Skindog, Alley, Mortan, Gneiss, Velgar and Pokes
- If there is trouble or you have concerns about officers or your fellow guildies or about the guild master (Tiande), you can direct your inquiries to Gneiss. She is our guild ombudsperson, a fair and reasonable guildie.
Thanks for reading and from all of us officers: Welcome to Serenity.
